The torogoz flies at night above a cobbled street, candles at the doors.

Animated musical feature · in development

Petiza

A girl who sees stories in everything. A world that tells her to stop making things up. A torogoz who knows where her imagination went.

The story

They told her to learn to count

Petiza is seven and sees stories in everything: in the smoke of the comal, in the old doors on her street, in her little brother and sister's laughter. She tells them to anyone who will listen, and to anyone who won't.

Until one day she is told that's enough. Stop making things up. Learn to count, with numbers. And Petiza obeys… and something goes out. The colours stand still. Doors are only doors.

That night, on a branch of an old tree, the torogoz is waiting. Together they set out to find what she lost, through a world that sings, and on the way Petiza learns that contar has two meanings.

The theme

Contar, twice

contar

To tell a story. What Petiza does without being asked, and what the world asks her to stop doing.

contar

To count. To matter. To be counted. What she finds at the end of the road: what you imagine counts, too.

The ending

“Ahora les toca a ustedes.”

As a grandmother, under the same tree, Petiza hands the golden pencil to her grandchildren: “Now it's your turn.” The film ends where the story of every child watching begins.

Petiza, holding a candle, carries José on her back next to Yuya, under a full moon.

For kids

Draw what you imagine

We will invite children to send us their own characters: a drawing, a name and what it can do. Some of them will live in Petiza's world.

The call isn't open yet. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it starts, with the rules and the permission parents or guardians will need to give.

Follow the film

We'll tell you how it's going

Progress, music, the first trailer and the call for characters. Few letters, and only when there's something to tell.

Petiza, Yuya and José, hand in hand, at an open door under the moon, candles on the ground.
